（Singularity）描述了一段以时间为武器的冒险之旅。故事主人公——美国空军飞行员 Nate Renko 奉命前往一个神秘小岛调查某些异常状况，该岛以前曾归前苏联掌控。

他在岛上发现了由苏联人在冷战期间研发，名为“99 号元素（Element 99/E-99）”的秘密武器，还有时间操控设备（Time Manipulation Device，简称 TMD），能让操作者实现各种时空转换。
