时值 1715 年，加勒比海成为了海盗的天堂，他们在此建立起无法无天的国度，腐败、贪婪以及凶残手段早已司空见惯。在这些亡命之徒之中出现了一位名为爱德华・肯威（Edward Kenway）的年少轻狂船长。他为荣耀而战的事迹不单为他赢得了黑胡子等传奇人物的敬重，也将他扯进刺客与圣殿骑士的漫长战争，这场战争也许将会摧毁海盗们辛苦建立的一切。
